How have you been?

Halfway through first period
I felt a tap on the shoulder
I turned to the empty seat beside me
A girl with dazzling eyes
Smiled and said
"Hey there, long time no see"

Yes, long time no see
The last time I saw you
Your eyes were bloodshot and despairing
You pleaded yourself not guilty
And I trusted you
When you left,
I thought I saw a glimpse of light in your eyes

The next day I came to school
I felt a part of me lost in this world
Through people's whispers
I knew you pleaded once again
With your life
That you were not guilty

I have sat here for forty-nine days
Without your dimples
Without your frowns
I have not turned towards the empty seat
Since you fell
How have you been?

Sunrise or Sunset

There it is
A perfect circle
Sitting on top a highrise
Embracing the sky

But we do not care
To stop and stare
We merely look at the clock
"Oh it's five pm"
Now it's as if the charm
Does not exist

Dawn,
Is the rising heat
So ambitious, eye catching,
The whole world waiting on its appearance

But dusk,
Is peaceful and calming
Like a soft smile
Like a long hug
Like coming home,
And smelling what mom cooked
Like sitting on a balcony
Reading a good book

Hello sunset,
Your beauty will be seen
By those with tranquil souls

(photo response work)
The Dessert

Delicately soft, smooth as milk
Golden yellow and caramel
A perfect of blend of egg and cream
Lying slightly puffed
On a bed of crisp
Fragile flakes

(experiment with sound/imagery)
A perfect white rose

A day with no clouds
This weather
She loved

She lies
In a wedding dress
Beaded with pearls

Beside her
Is a picture of them
Framed with creamy sandalwood
She smiled
So sugary
He smiled
Sighing guilt

Now he stands here
A face too pale
He placed on her hand
A perfect white rose
Its petals will never fall
For it never bloomed
